The chief editor of GORUS was awarded a prize at the “People’s Journalism” festival.

Today, at the social media festival “People’s Journalism,” organized by the interregional public organization “Association of Veterans, Disabled People, and Pensioners” (MROO “AVIP”), ten journalists who stood out for their professionalism over the past year were ceremoniously awarded.

Among the participants of the event were honorary guests who dedicated their lives to social policy: Alexander Nikolaevich Rzhanenkov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg of the seventh convocation, chairman of the standing committee on social policy and health, and Elena Nikolaevna Fidrikova, chairperson of the Committee on Social Policy of St. Petersburg.

During the evaluation, socially significant St. Petersburg media outlets that enjoyed special trust from the residents of St. Petersburg were selected, and members of the editorial boards who made a special contribution to the development of these publications were awarded the festival prize, diplomas, and trophies in the form of a green checkmark.

The chief editor of GORUS, Ilya Turmanidze, was among the nominees.

Also awarded were: Mikhail Titov, host of the program “Gorodskaya Kukhnya” (Channel 78); Kirill Smirnov, chief editor of the newspaper “Peterburgskiy Dnevnik” and the online media spbdnevnik.ru, general director of the information and publishing center of the Government of St. Petersburg “Petrotsentr”; Alina Klemenko, chief editor of the newspaper “AiF Peterburg”; Alexander Grigoriev and Alexey Korepanov, video operator and correspondent of the program “Segodnya v Sankt-Peterburge” (NTV channel); Anastasia Dyakova, news anchor of the channel “Sankt-Peterburg”; Sergey Kormilitsyn, columnist of the newspaper “Vecherniy Peterburg”; Marina Boytsova, head of the “Gorod” department of the newspaper “Peterburgskiy Dnevnik,” and other significant figures in the media industry.

A key role in the evaluation and awarding of prizes was played by residents of St. Petersburg of retirement age. For urban media, this is one of the most important segments of the readership, whose demands, including the demand for positive content, must be taken into account when forming the news agenda. As previously reported by the chairperson of the social policy committee, Elena Fidrikova, people of retirement age today constitute approximately 23% of the entire population of St. Petersburg.

GORUS has successfully entered the format of social journalism because we only write about good things, and people are probably tired of reading all this negativity, so they trust us, said Ilya Turmanidze.

GORUS will continue to justify it, as good news appears every day, and telling you about them is our direct honorable duty.
