For three consecutive weeks, Russia has recorded over 1.1 million cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). However, in about 30% of regions there has been a slight decline in incidence, according to Rospotrebnadzor.
Among respiratory viruses, influenza B and influenza A (H1N1) continue to dominate, while non‑influenza viruses—particularly rhinoviruses and respiratory syncytial viruses—are also prevalent, the agency reported.
In an effort to prevent a further surge in infections, some educational institutions have been forced to suspend classes. Over the past week alone, authorities closed 462 schools, 162 kindergartens, 11 boarding schools and one vocational training centre.
Meanwhile, COVID‑19 cases are on the decline. Last week, 3,800 coronavirus infections were reported—a 14.6% decrease compared to the previous week.
Rospotrebnadzor has also warned against the premature switch to light clothing, which could lead to chilling and increased illness. The agency stressed the importance of a balanced diet in spring, ensuring the body receives all the essential vitamins and micronutrients.
