President Vladimir Putin has announced that 2026 will be designated the Year of Education between Russia and China. Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club, he emphasised the continued spirit of alliance between Moscow and Beijing.
Putin previously told China’s Xinhua news agency in August that the two nations would hold reciprocal Years of Education in 2026 and 2027, highlighting strong prospects for cooperation in education and science.
Currently, over 51,000 Chinese students are studying in Russia, while around 21,000 Russians are enrolled in Chinese institutions. The Russian president praised the positive momentum in academic mobility and inter-university collaboration.
