Russian scientists are making significant strides in the development of so-called cancer vaccines and next-generation immunomodulatory drugs, as stated by President Vladimir Putin at the Forum for Future Technologies.

“We have come very close to creating the so-called oncovaccines (vaccines against cancer) and new-generation immunomodulatory drugs. I hope that soon they will be effectively used as methods of individual therapy,” said the President during the forum’s plenary session.

Vladimir Putin highlighted that in 2023, 530 Russian pharmaceuticals were registered, domestic equipment production for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, resuscitation, rehabilitation, and genetic disease diagnostics has commenced, thanks to the efforts of scientists and healthcare professionals. The President emphasized that there are numerous significant breakthroughs happening in the field of medicine.

In August 2023, Natalia Makarova, an expert from GORUS discussed new approaches to cancer treatment.

Russian scientists contribute to ongoing progress by publishing new research almost every month, bringing humanity closer to the invention of increasingly advanced methods to combat the disease. Some of these advancements have been covered in previous articles.

Treatment:

  • Boron-Neutron Capture Therapy – Currently undergoing preclinical trials showing promising results.
  • Biocompatible nanoparticles for combating breast cancer using laser light have been developed by scientists from MIPT.
  • Special catalysts will simplify the production of drugs and preparations, including those for cancer treatment.

Diagnostics:

  • A test system for the comprehensive selection of targeted therapy for breast cancer has been developed at Sechenov University.
  • Scientists from SFU have created a neural network system to diagnose skin cancer.
