Russia’s unemployment rate has dropped to a record low of 2.1%, down from 2.2% in July, according to the latest figures from Rosstat.

In August, the country’s labour force — defined as individuals aged 15 and over — totalled 76.5 million people. Of these, 75 million were classified as employed in economic activity, while 1.6 million were recorded as unemployed.

Women experienced a slightly higher unemployment rate than men, at 2.2% and 2% respectively. Women also accounted for 51.3% of the unemployed. The average age of an unemployed person in Russia was 36.8 years. Young people under 25 made up 24% of the unemployed, while those aged 50 and above comprised nearly 20%.
