Cardiologist and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Olga Bokerya, shared insights on maintaining liver health on her Telegram channel. According to her, this issue is particularly relevant for patients taking statins and other medications.

Dr. Bokerya published a list of the most beneficial foods that not only cleanse the liver but also support its normal functioning.

The liver plays a vital role in the body, performing various functions such as nutrient breakdown, protein and amino acid metabolism, bile and cholesterol production, and storage of vitamins, iron, hormones, and other substances.

Bokerya highlighted that all types of cruciferous vegetables, including common cabbage, are beneficial for liver health. The list also includes garlic and beets, with the latter helping to reduce inflammation and improve bile excretion. Beet leaves are also valuable as they contain a high amount of potassium, an essential element for liver health.

The doctor also emphasized the importance of protein-rich and healthy fat foods. Eggs, which are rich in choline, are particularly important for the liver as they help regulate cholesterol levels.

Equally important are all types of fatty fish, as well as lemon, which reduces inflammation and helps remove excess fat from the liver, Bokerya concluded.
