The cold does not scare them off

Young doctors from Africa are starting work in hospitals in the Moscow suburbs, addressing the shortage of medical personnel. One of the specialists, Abdelmalik Abdalla from Sudan, chose Lytkarino for his medical practice. His decision to stay in Russia was influenced not only by professional aspects but also by the situation in his home country due to the civil war.

Abdelmalik, who successfully mastered the Russian language in six months, chose to work at Lytkarino Polyclinic No. 2. The move to Russia in the coldest season did not deter the doctor, although many aspects were unexpected for him.

“I arrived in Russia right in winter. In thin trousers and a T-shirt. That’s how we dress in Khartoum. Almost froze while getting my luggage. But now I’m used to it. I had only seen snow on TV before. It’s beautiful, like our robes. But I can’t get used to the cold,” confessed Abdalla.

It is worth noting that from January 1, 2023, Russia simplified the procedures for hiring foreign medical professionals, leading to an increase in the number of foreign specialists. To be employed, foreign doctors no longer need to take a special Russian language proficiency exam; they only need to confirm that their education meets the country’s standards.
