There’s no limit: what kind of meat and in what quantity do Russians prefer

During the May holidays, many Russians head out for picnics. The main dish becomes shashlik, which can be made from different types of meat and even vegetables. However, the majority of compatriots prefer the meaty version of this festive dish.

A survey by Rosselkhozbank showed that about 40% of respondents are ready to eat any amount of shashlik at once. “There is no limit” – this is the option they chose as an answer. A quarter of those surveyed stopped at 200-350 grams of meat. Another 12% noted that they would eat up to 500 grams.

Most survey participants believe that the most suitable meat is pork. In second place in popularity is chicken and turkey. Lamb is in third place. Beef and fish are chosen less frequently, and only 5% said they eat only vegetables or mushrooms on the grill.

Almost 70% of respondents buy and marinate meat themselves. Every tenth Russian noted that they prefer ready-made dishes.

The most important thing at a picnic is a pleasant company, and sauces, alcohol, and other additions are secondary.

Doctors advise not to abuse fried meat, especially if you choose fatty types of the product. The most dietary option is considered to be chicken or turkey meat. It is best to combine the dish with fresh vegetables. At one time, you should eat no more than 300 grams of meat and the same amount of vegetables. Otherwise, overeating is possible, resulting in stomach heaviness, discomfort, and even pain.

Spicy sauces and alcohol can also provoke a negative reaction of the body to an abundance of food. People who have problems with the stomach and intestines, as well as with the heart and circulatory system, should be more careful.
