During the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the domestic electric motorcycles Aurus Merlon were showcased for the first time as part of the state leader’s motorcade.
Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, Denis Manturov, announced that pre-orders for the motorcycle are already being accepted, with official sales slated to commence in 2025, as reported by TASS.
The Aurus Merlon weighs 370 kilograms and is capable of speeds exceeding 225 kilometers per hour, accelerating to 100 kilometers per hour in less than four seconds. One of its key features is its ability to withstand severe cold, tolerating temperatures as low as minus 25 degrees Celsius. Additionally, it offers the option of attaching a sidecar trailer. Its price is estimated to be between 10-12 million rubles.
President Putin arrived at his inauguration in the updated premium-class Aurus Senat car. Manturov noted that currently, such vehicles are produced solely for replenishing the Special Purpose Garage, but they are expected to be available on the market by 2025.
