Glycerin, acrolein, and other components in vape liquids are food additives. At least that’s what manufacturers claim. However, in reality, they are considered such only when ingested, said psychiatrist-narcologist Vasily Shurov in an interview with the TV channel “360”.

According to him, these additives burn, and then, through the lungs and circulatory system, enter the human brain. They have a toxic effect. Tobacco companies took advantage of the fact that no research on smoking had been conducted in the last two decades. Scientists only studied cases of severe pneumonia with the fusion of small foci into larger ones.

Shurov noted that there is currently no scientific research on pure smoking. However, separate descriptions exist of acute forms of pneumonia in those who vape: a severe course of the disease requiring corticosteroid therapy.

“Unfortunately, all these things are harmful,” the doctor noted.

He added that vape liquid manufacturers resort to marketing tricks when they claim that it is healthier than cigarettes. In fact, Russians are offered a choice between two evils.

Cigarettes contain nicotine, which causes mental and physical addiction. The danger lies in the fact that teenagers who “vape” get used to changing their psychoemotional state. Those who currently use drugs did not start with them. First, they smoked cigarettes, and then they needed something heavier. Moreover, there has been an increase in psychoses among teenagers, Shurov explained.

He warned that smoking is a risk factor for cardiovascular, pulmonary, and oncological diseases.
