The increase in cocoa bean prices could contribute to the development of domestic production, according to Alexey Kuk, a leading expert in the FoodNet NTI working group and an economist.

This week, the cost of 1 ton of the product exceeded $5,000, marking the first time since 1977.

The focus on technological sovereignty in Russia allows for the development of domestic raw material production, and the potential deficit and state support will act as drivers.

According to the expert’s assessment, the deployment of cocoa bean production is a long-term process that will take about 10 years.
