The World Population Review project has named the most promiscuous country in the world: Turkey.

Researchers gathered and analyzed data on the number of sexual partners throughout the lives of residents of 46 countries. The average value of this indicator for all studied countries turned out to be 9.

When it comes to the maximum number of sexual partners, Turkey took the first place. Local residents have an average of 14.5 sexual partners throughout their lives. In second place are residents of Australia and New Zealand with 13.3 partners. Rounding out the top three are Icelanders, who have an average of 13 sexual partners over their lifetime.

The fewest sexual partners are reported among citizens living in China and India—3 and 3.1 respectively.

In Russia, the average number of sexual partners throughout life is 9. By this measure, our country surpasses many Western European states but lags behind Southern Europe and Scandinavia. For example, in Finland, the average number of sexual partners over a lifetime is 12.4.

In the United States and Canada, this indicator stands at 10.7, in Ireland – 11.1, and in the United Kingdom – 9.8.
