The largest wind power station in Russia will be built in Dagestan
The Republic of Dagestan is implementing a project to construct the largest wind power station (WPS) in Russia. The construction of the Novolak WPS in the Novolak and Kumtorkalin districts of the region will be carried out in two stages. According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Tariffs of Dagestan, the project became possible thanks to a cooperation agreement signed between the government of the republic and NovaWind JSC.
The first stage involves completing the design and construction of a power-generating facility with a capacity of up to 160 MW, electrical infrastructure, corresponding facilities, and the technological connection of the Novolak WPS to the electrical grids by June 2025. During the construction phase, 60 permanent and 300 temporary jobs will be created.
In the second stage, by June 2026, additional design and construction of a power-generating facility with an increased capacity of up to 315 MW are planned. The project’s implementation will be a significant step in the development of renewable energy in this windy region.
