A group of scientists from Moscow and Ryazan State Medical University (RyazGMU) has developed a product called “ComboSpas,” based on modified hyaluronic acid. It can stop bleeding in just 10-15 seconds.
Experts created a hemostatic agent based on modified hyaluronic acid. In its activated form, this modification rapidly attracts water from the blood plasma and initiates a cascade reaction of clotting, leading to the rapid cessation of bleeding.
According to the researchers, existing medical treatments typically require a minimum of 2.5 minutes to stop bleeding. Trials conducted have demonstrated the effectiveness of “ComboSpas.” Additional research will be conducted in the near future.
Specialists have highlighted the important antiseptic property of the developed product, allowing its use in various clinical situations and injuries, including accidents and shrapnel wounds.
The scientists also noted the product’s high adhesion to wounds, facilitating its use in emergency situations.
