Treat wounds with them.

Scientists from Tyumen Medical University (TMU) have determined that the secondary metabolites of bifidobacteria can be beneficial in treating wounds – they have a positive impact on the healing processes of cuts and burns. This means that based on them, medicinal sprays and ointments can be developed.

The key role in this process belongs to fibroblasts – skin cells synthesizing elastin, collagen, hyaluronic acid, and other important components responsible for skin elasticity and firmness. During the research, scientists identified that it’s specifically the secondary metabolites of bifidobacteria that enhance the production of elastin and collagen, as well as cytokines of various directions, speeding up wound healing.
