A brilliant victory for the Russian team at the international tournament.

The Russian national chess team secured the top spot at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) tournament held in China.

The Russian team comprised Daniil Dubov, Maxim Matlakov, and Anastasia Bodnaruk, guided by coach Alexander Ryazantsev.

China clinched second place, while Mongolia took home the bronze. The tournament was equivalent to a world championship, marking a historic win for Russia, noted Andrey Filatov, the head of the Russian Chess Federation (RCF).

Teams from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, and Tajikistan also participated. The Russian team competed under its coat of arms and flag, and our anthem was played during the closing ceremony.
