An interactive map has been launched in Russia, providing information about collection points for batteries, mercury lamps, and other hazardous waste. This initiative was presented by the specialists of the Federal Environmental Operator (FEO).
The map allows users to locate specially equipped places where every resident of the country can dispose of Class I and II waste. These materials are then sent to specialized companies for neutralization or disposal. The map’s interface will be refined based on user feedback, and information about collection points will be regularly updated.
According to the FEO press service, thanks to this map, waste that previously could end up in landfills with household waste will now be directed for neutralization and disposal, without causing harm to the environment.
Since 2022, the FEO has been serving as a “single window” for handling Class I and II waste, ensuring their collection, transportation, and management through the Federal State Information System for Waste Management (FGIS OPVK). The system registers all market participants, from waste generators to transporters and hazardous waste disposers, optimizing logistics and tracking the entire life cycle of waste from formation to processing.
