Daria Kopylova, Associate Professor of the Department of Innovative and Digital Technologies at Synergy University, stated in an interview with “Gazeta.Ru” that in 2024, a minimum income of 192,000 rubles per month is necessary for a family of five — two parents, two children, and a pensioner.
The expert considered various expenses, including food costs, estimating the price of a cafeteria meal at 400 rubles. Therefore, daily food expenses amount to 600 rubles per day or 18,000 rubles per month per person, totaling 90,000 rubles for the family. Children’s clothing is estimated to cost approximately 36,000 rubles per year, while clothing for working adults is around 48,000 rubles annually.
Kopylova highlighted the necessity of additional classes and sports activities for children. With a schedule of 5 hours per week at 500 rubles per hour, the costs for two children amount to 20,000 rubles. Effectively, one child costs parents more than 30,000 rubles per month, and this estimate does not include school fees.
Utility bills are estimated by the economist to be 10,000 rubles per month, while mobile communication and internet services are 5,000 rubles for the family, and transportation costs 10,000 rubles for four people, assuming the pensioner does not work.
Taking into account car expenses and savings, a Russian family will need a minimum of 192,000 rubles per month in 2024, concluded Kopylova.
