The Federal Tax Service (FTS) has announced that evading taxes in Russia will now be nearly impossible.
This was confirmed by the head of the FTS, Daniil Yegorov, during an interview with the “Russia 24” television channel at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). He also revealed that starting from 2025, tax deductions will be provided to citizens automatically. Russians will no longer need to visit the tax office with applications and supporting documents. All eligible tax deductions will be displayed in their personal online accounts. Simply specifying a bank account will suffice, and the money will be transferred. Currently, the simplified regime only applies to investment and property deductions.
Previously, it was reported that the Ministry of Finance had developed a progressive taxation scale. The government approved the finance department’s proposal. These changes will not affect the majority of the Russian population. Higher taxes will be imposed on those earning more than 200,000 rubles per month. As income increases, the personal income tax (PIT) rate will also rise. In other words, the government aims to implement the principle of fairness in the Russian taxation system. This objective was set by President Vladimir Putin during his address to the Federal Assembly.
