In just four months, the residents of Sosnovoborsk, located in the Krasnoyarsk Krai, managed to collect over 250,000 plastic bottles and aluminum cans, despite the city’s population being only 40,000. This initiative is part of the “Cleanest City” campaign, bringing about many positive changes.
Sosnovoborsk has become the first city in Russia to have infrastructure that fully meets the population’s needs for collecting plastic bottles and aluminum cans, with AI-powered reverse vending machines, known as “fandomats,” installed throughout the city.
The project also includes a motivational program, with a particular focus on involving schoolchildren. Participants in the campaign receive bonuses through the Ecoplatform mobile app.
Government officials, environmental experts, and the business sector have highly praised the initiative, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in sustainable waste management. They have also discussed the potential for implementing similar projects in other regions.
