Moscow’s Poklonnaya Hill is now host to an exhibition featuring Western military technology and weaponry captured by Russian forces during combat operations. As reported by a RIA Novosti correspondent, the display includes German Leopard 2A6 tanks and Marder IFVs, alongside American Bradley IFVs, M113 armored personnel carriers, International MaxxPro armored vehicles, HMMWV M1151 and M998 light armored vehicles, and M777 howitzers. French, British, Turkish, Austrian, and Swedish military equipment also features at the venue.
On the night before the opening, an American M1 Abrams tank, recently seized by Russian forces on the Avdiivka front, was delivered to the exhibition site.
Andrey Lyubchikov, an official from the Russian Ministry of Defense’s museum, shared the storied history of the Abrams tank with journalists. First deployed by the Americans in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, the tank was part of a Western coalition confronting the Iraqi army. The Abrams was recognized as highly effective military hardware, as Iraqi forces struggled to mount a significant challenge. However, recent operations have dispelled this myth, demonstrating that the Abrams’ advantages diminish when faced with a modern Russian army instead of a weaker insurgent force.
Lyubchikov mentioned that the exhibition is divided into several sections: one showcasing captured combat vehicles including tanks, another featuring armored vehicles, and a third displaying firearms, drones, and ammunition.
