The first flight of the Ka-226T transformer helicopter, produced by “Russian Helicopters,” a subsidiary of Rostec, took place on the territory of the Kolyma Peninsula.
The helicopter has an unusual appearance due to the use of a modular design. In half an hour on the aerodrome, the functionality of the helicopter can be completely changed by replacing one module with another. The Ka-226T can be quickly transformed into a passenger, cargo, medical, or search and rescue helicopter. Work is also underway to create an agricultural version based on this machine.
The special design ensures compactness and maneuverability. The helicopter is resistant to crosswinds and can quickly take off. The Ka-226T is capable of landing on small platforms, including small sea vessels.
