The launch of the Russian methane rocket “Amur-LNG” is scheduled for 2030, according to the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. The announcement was made during a meeting in Russia to celebrate Cosmonautics Day.

Manturov stated that new organizational approaches and modern technologies are being utilized to implement this project. This will significantly reduce the cost of the Russian rocket with a reusable first stage. He reminded that specialists from the Samara Rocket and Space Center “Progress” are involved in the development of the rocket.

According to the head of “Roscosmos” Yuri Borisov, the first stage of the “Amur-LNG” rocket can be reused more than 50 times, or even more than 100 times. Work on this project began in 2020. The carrier will have a reusable first stage equipped with the RD-0169 engine, which operates on oxygen and methane.

Earlier, Alexander Kvetkin, a representative of the Progress Center, appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to assist in ensuring high development rates for the reusable launch vehicle, which have recently declined due to the sequestration of the federal space program.
