Russia has seen a 14% increase in fish catch since the beginning of 2024. According to information from the Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo), Russian fishermen have already caught 516.6 thousand tons of fish by February 6. This marks a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.

The catching of Alaska pollock and herring in the Bering and Okhotsk Seas, especially in the Far Eastern fishery basin, is proving successful, with the catch volume increasing by 24.3%, reaching 465 thousand tons.

Additionally, in the Azov-Black Sea fishery basin, the catch amounted to 6.2 thousand tons, a 29% increase from the previous year. The catch of European anchovy (hamsa) also yielded positive results, with a growth of 33%, totaling more than 6 thousand tons.

Rosrybolovstvo continuously monitors the volume of catch and supplies of fish products to domestic and international markets to ensure an ample supply of fish products for the country’s population.
