115 birds make a stop on the peninsula after a long flight.
A large flock of pink flamingos has been spotted in Crimea. The birds took a break from their long flight and caught the attention of local scientists. Igor Sikorsky, a research fellow at the Opuksky Reserve, shared details about the visit and the routes of these exotic guests on his social media.
He reported that approximately 115 birds arrived in the Arabat Bay on the east coast of Crimea. The flamingos have already spread across the entire Kerch Peninsula.
However, the stay of the flamingos in Crimea will not end here. According to Igor Sikorsky, it is likely that the birds will continue to the Eastern Syvash. They will chart their course, relying on available feeding areas and places to rest.
Pink flamingos were first observed in Crimea over 150 years ago.
