Fiber is not a magic remedy, but it provides substantial benefits.

Healthcare professionals on the portal zdorovoe-pitanie.rf have highlighted the impact of sufficient dietary fiber on the body, and explained how fiber helps prevent cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

According to them, fruits, vegetables, greens, legumes, and whole grains, which are rich in fiber, significantly reduce the likelihood of toxin absorption in the body. This is due to the ability of dietary fibers to bind almost any toxic substances found in food. As a result, the time toxins spend in contact with the intestines is minimized.

The medics emphasized that certain types of fiber have anti-cancer properties. Epidemiological data suggests that a diet with an adequate amount of fiber is associated with a reduced risk of developing colon cancer.

Dietary fibers containing phytoestrogen lignans are also beneficial. They reduce the risk of osteoporosis and heart disease. Attention should be paid to garlic, pumpkin, asparagus, cabbage, and spinach. Pears, plums, whole grain products, and flaxseed will also be beneficial, provided there are no contraindications, the doctors noted.

They added that one of the best sources of soluble dietary fiber is psyllium. Studies have shown that it can lower serum cholesterol levels, which is crucial for the prevention of heart and vascular diseases.
