Authorities in Georgia are implementing new rules for tourists. Starting from June 1, travelers must have medical insurance for the entire period of their stay in the country, reports the Association of Russian Tour Operators.
If a tourist does not have medical insurance, they may be fined $110 (10,000 rubles). The minimum insurance package should include emergency outpatient care up to $5,000 (459,000 rubles) and inpatient treatment up to $30,000 (2.7 million rubles).
The cost of the policy depends on the insurance company’s rates, insurance conditions, as well as the tourist’s age, duration of coverage, and other factors. On average, the price ranges from 1,500 to 3,000 rubles for 10 days. Such a policy will cover medical expenses up to $5,000. The insurance can be issued in Russian, English, or Georgian.
In 2023, Georgia was visited by 1.2 million Russian citizens, which is 31.1% more than the previous year’s figure.
