Glucose meters for continuous glucose monitoring have been procured for approximately 50,000 children with type 1 diabetes. The procurement was carried out as part of the federal project “Fight Against Diabetes,” announced Deputy Minister of Health of Russia, Evgenia Kotova.

“We have developed a passport for the federal project ‘Fight Against Diabetes,’ which provides for the provision of continuous glucose monitoring devices for all children who have encountered type 1 diabetes. We have already purchased the corresponding medical devices for approximately 50,000 such children,” Kotova noted while speaking at the plenary session of the Congress of Pediatricians of Russia.

In September 2023, the Minister of Health of Russia, Mikhail Murashko, reported that there are about 165 drugs registered in Russia for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, with half of them being produced by domestic manufacturers.
