Temporary shelters for animals will be established in the region
By the end of this year, temporary shelters for homeless animals (TSHA) will be established in the Stavropol region. This was announced by the chief veterinary inspector of the region, Denis Taranukh.
These points, located in property complexes, will provide temporary shelter for stray animals. The first TSHA will be launched in the second half of 2024. They will be located in the city districts of Izobilny, Blagodarny, and Georgievsky. Each shelter will be able to temporarily accommodate up to 240 dogs and 60 cats. Animals that come to specialists will undergo vaccination and sterilization within thirty days, as well as receive postoperative care. Afterward, they will be released back into their natural habitat. In case of unwarranted aggression, dogs or cats may be transferred to private shelters.
Taranukh emphasized that anyone interested can adopt a four-legged friend from the TSHA. Information about homeless animals will be regularly updated on a special website. Funding for all activities is provided from the regional budget, and the tasks of catching and transporting animals to temporary shelters will be entrusted to municipalities.
