A bill has been introduced to the State Duma, proposing the expansion of coverage and improvement of the quality of internet and communication on highways in Russia, as well as in small towns located nearby.

The authors of the bill noted that addressing this issue is crucial not only for comfortable travel on Russian roads but also for the operation of emergency services. This problem is particularly acute in Siberia and the Far East.

Currently, federal highways are covered by GSM networks at 90%, and LTE networks at 54-75%. However, the situation on regional roads is significantly worse, with only 20-40% coverage by communication networks of various generations.

Earlier, the Russian government approved a concept related to the development of automotive tourism in the country. The document emphasizes that the main problem is the low level of roadside services. According to survey results, over 70% of Russian car tourists cited low-quality internet and communication on the roads.

It has also been announced that there are no plans to lower the age for issuing driver’s licenses in Russia. Additionally, the State Traffic Inspectorate intends to remove ineffective photo and video recording cameras on Russian roads.
