A high-speed railway line between Moscow and St. Petersburg is set to be constructed, with the main project scheme already approved. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.
President Vladimir Putin previously chaired a meeting on the implementation of the Moscow – St. Petersburg high-speed rail project, emphasizing that this line should become the starting point for the development of high-speed railway connections in Russia. In the long term, there are plans to create similar lines in the directions of Ryazan, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Adler, and Minsk.
Transport Minister Vitaly Saveliev noted that over 600 billion rubles will be required for the construction of the high-speed railway, and the first stage envisions launching 28 trains by 2028, operating at intervals of 10-15 minutes.
