Recent studies have shown that the risk of developing chronic diseases, including cardiovascular conditions, can be significantly reduced by following four key guidelines.

According to scientists, it is crucial to control weight, engage in regular physical activity, and adhere to a healthy diet. While red fatty meat does not need to be entirely excluded from the diet, it should be consumed in moderation. The foundation of the diet should consist of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Additionally, it is important to avoid harmful habits.

Researchers have highlighted that physical activity should total at least 3.5 hours per week.

By adhering to these guidelines, the risk of heart attack is reduced by 81%, stroke by 50%, and cancer by 36%.

A healthy lifestyle can protect against heart disease even if you have a high genetic risk, the scientists explained.

They also found that physical exercise slows the progression of atherosclerosis. Therapeutic physical activity can stabilize, slow down, or even reverse the development of this disease.

When changing your diet and planning physical activities, it is important to consult with your doctor, writes Pronews.gr.

The scientists also emphasized the importance of quality sleep. In a study conducted by the UK Biobank involving 400,000 people, it was found that individuals who sleep less than 6 hours a day, regardless of other factors, have a 20% higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
