Milk production in Russia has significantly increased
The production of dairy products in Russia saw significant growth in 2023, announced Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev at the 15th Congress of the National Union of Milk Producers. The total volume of raw milk produced reached 33.5 million tons, nearly 0.5 million tons higher than the previous year. The minister expressed gratitude to business representatives and the government for these achievements, acknowledging the implementation of specific support measures, including those directed by the president.
The growth in milk production also reflected in the increased volume of dairy products. Cream production increased by 21%, cheese by 16%, ice cream by 12%, and dry dairy products by 8%.
The minister emphasized that the increase in production became possible due to the establishment of new dairy complexes and the improvement of productivity in dairy farming. Over the past few years, Russia has put into operation 900 modern dairy complexes. The country plans to open 61 new dairy farms by 2024.
