Nolan Arbo has become the first person to have a Neuralink brain implant.
In an interview with Business Insider, Arbo described his daily routine. He uses the implant from 7 AM to 11 PM. While the days feel long, he does not experience fatigue.
Nolan Arbo uses the implant to communicate with social media users, read comics, and study foreign languages.
Neuralink, a neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk, announced in January 2024 that the first person had received a brain implant and was feeling well. According to Musk, the initial data on the device’s performance showed promising results.
The Neuralink implant enables a person to control a smartphone or computer. This device is particularly useful for individuals who have lost the use of their limbs. Later, the first patient with the brain implant demonstrated how he could play chess using only his thoughts.
Elon Musk also announced plans to develop a brain implant that would enable a blind person to see. This project has been named “Blindsight.”
Experts have mixed opinions about Musk’s developments. Some note that such implants could exacerbate social inequality, as only wealthy individuals would be able to afford them.
