Reports have emerged in the media about a significant increase in the number of IT professionals in the Russian IT sector wanting to leave the country.
The Ministry of Digital Development responded to such publications. The department did not confirm the existence of such a trend. On the contrary, about 70% of the IT specialists who left Russia in 2022 after the start of the Special Administrative Status (SAS) have already returned to our country. In 2023, there was no outflow of IT specialists. Their number increased by 13% compared to the previous year to 857,000 people.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko stated that over the past 4 years, the Russian IT market has grown approximately twice as fast as the global market. According to government data, more than half of young Russians want to work in the technology sector, and they have all the opportunities to do so. Chernyshenko also noted that Russia ranks 6th in the world in terms of internet accessibility and is one of the few countries with its own technologies and developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
Earlier, Forbes reported on the emergence of Russia’s second dollar millionaire in the IT sector. Denis Frolov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Astra Group,” became the millionaire.
