The Russian Ministry of Transport anticipates a monumental milestone in the maritime sector for 2023, forecasting a whopping 900 million tonnes in cargo turnover. Vitaly Klyuev, Director of the Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport within the Russian Ministry of Transport, shared these estimations.

Sergei Pylin, head of Rosmorport, further supplemented this forecast by expecting a 7% increase in freight turnover compared to the figures of 2022.

It’s noteworthy that the freight turnover of Russian seaports rebounded in 2022, reaching the pre-pandemic levels of 2019, totaling a significant 840 million tonnes.

Additionally, recent revelations point to the emergence of two new ports in Russia— one in the Primorsky Krai and another in Sakhalin.
