The storm-damaged aquarium in Sevastopol will be assisted by Moscow’s oceanarium.
Over 300 specimens of 20 fish species will be transferred from the Moscow Oceanarium to the affected museum-aquarium in Sevastopol, which suffered flooding as a result of the November storm. The seawater destroyed tropical freshwater animals representing four continents.
To ensure the fish reach the oceanarium smoothly, they will be packed in special bags and sealed. They will then be placed in special boxes to protect them from the cold.
The most comfortable temperature for the fish is around 24 degrees, but during transportation, a decrease to 18 degrees is acceptable. Logisticians from the “Moskvarium” are determining the most comfortable route for the fish. Transportation will be carried out by train or car.
By the end of the year, all the fish will be transported to their new home. An updated exhibition will be presented to visitors in April next year.
