A survey conducted by the “AlfaStrakhovanie” service has revealed that some Russian men are willing to take paternity leave in place of their wives.
Analysts noted that 92% of respondents already have children, while the remaining 8% are planning to have them in the future.
Currently, only 3% of fathers are on paternity leave. In 94% of cases, mothers stay home with the children, while 3% are looked after by grandmothers, according to RT.
According to 82% of men, a child, especially a young one, should be with their mother.
The survey also showed that 14% of men are ready to officially stay home with the child, and 4% would consider taking paternity leave only under certain circumstances or if it is justified financially. Meanwhile, 22% fear that taking paternity leave could worsen their relationship with their employer, as it is considered an atypical situation.
Approximately 9% of respondents mentioned that they know of cases where men took paternity leave and subsequently lost their jobs.
More than 27% of men believe they could work a reduced schedule to spend more time with their children while receiving additional benefits alongside their salary.
The survey included over 1,100 participants.
