About 2.8 million tourists are planning to embark on journeys across Russia during the upcoming May holidays, which is 30% more than last year, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
Approximately 800,000 people intend to organize trips through tour operators. Nearly 75% of compatriots will explore various cities of Russia, while the remaining 25% will travel abroad, said Sergey Romashkin, Vice President of ATOR for domestic tourism.
He noted that over the year, the list of the most popular destinations among Russians has hardly changed. The Krasnodar Krai took the first place. St. Petersburg ranked second, and the Caucasus Mineral Waters closed the top three leaders.
The top five also included the Kaliningrad Oblast and Dagestan.
