A survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) revealed that approximately 86% of citizens consider themselves patriots of Russia. Another 9% of respondents do not identify as patriots, while the remainder were undecided.
According to 75% of survey participants, a patriot should regard their country as the best, although 18% noted that this perspective is not obligatory.
Moreover, 50% of respondents believe that the number of patriots in Russia has increased in recent years, whereas 10% observed the opposite trend.
The majority, 53%, stated that patriotism is fostered through patriotic upbringing. In contrast, 37% associate its development with other factors, and 32% believe that every citizen should simply be a patriot of their country.
Additionally, 64% of Russians believe that being a patriot or not is a personal matter.
The FOM survey involved 1,500 adult Russians from 53 regions of the country.
