Changes are coming to the St. Petersburg cruise route “From the Varangians to the Greeks.” In the navigation of 2024, its final point will be a new pier located opposite the Novgorod Kremlin.

In 2016, a project was launched in the Leningrad region to create new piers that could be used for both cruise and small vessels. The first such pier was built in Staraya Ladoga. Then, piers were opened near the Oreshek fortress and near the museum-reserve “Breaking the Siege of Leningrad.”

According to Alena Firsh, a representative of the Association of Passenger Ship Owners, guests of St. Petersburg will have many additional options to explore the sights of the region.

A total of 9 new piers have been created over the past period. The pier opposite the Novgorod Kremlin will be the tenth. In 2023, 135,000 people used the new piers.

Plans for the near future include the construction of three piers in Karelia. This will connect the tourist routes of St. Petersburg, the Leningrad and Novgorod regions, as well as Karelia.
