Additional funding allocated for people with serious illnesses

The government will allocate additional funding to provide medication for people suffering from serious illnesses. Annually, for three years, 1.1 billion rubles will be allocated for the purchase of necessary drugs.

With the help of federal funding, antiviral drugs included in the list of vital and essential medicines will be purchased. These include velpatasvir and sofosbuvir, glecaprevir and pibrentasvir, grazoprevir and elbasvir, daclatasvir and sofosbuvir.

Mikhail Mishustin also signed an order to allocate over 360 million rubles for the transportation of drugs to the regions for the treatment of patients with rare and complex diseases.

The drugs will be purchased centrally by the Federal Center for Planning and Organization of Medicinal Provision to Citizens, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Health. Then the medications will be delivered to regional pharmacies for free distribution to patients upon a doctor’s prescription.
