The “Okhota” beach in the Sakhalin region has been recognized as the best beach in Russia. It received a first-category certificate, which was presented to Korsakov City District Mayor Alexander Ivashov by Olga Pasko, General Director of the independent certification and expertise center HorekaExpertGroup.
According to Pasko, it is not enough to simply set up sunbeds and umbrellas on the shore for a beach to be considered the best in Russia. The recreational area must have developed infrastructure, remain safe for visitors, and be accessible to people with disabilities. It should also be environmentally clean and equipped with medical assistance points, lifeguard towers, information boards, trash bins, changing rooms, showers, and toilet cabins.
There are national standards for beach equipment and a comprehensive list of requirements that beaches must meet. “Okhota” is the first municipal beach in Sakhalin to receive the highest rating, Pasko explained.
She added that the beach features a swimming pool, as well as sports and children’s play areas. The water area has been inspected by divers, who confirmed its safety.
