Such developmental strides haven’t been seen since the Soviet era.

During a lecture as part of the “Knowledge” project, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced plans to construct 985 vessels in Russia by 2035. The Prime Minister emphasized the significant volume of civil technical orders, marking a record-breaking industry expansion, compared to the 300 units reported last year.

Mikhail Mishustin expressed surprise at the rapid pace of shipbuilding industry growth, noting that such achievements hadn’t been witnessed since the Soviet era. He highlighted Russia’s leadership in building diesel and nuclear-powered icebreakers, affirming the nation’s exceptional competencies in this sphere.

The Prime Minister detailed various ongoing projects at domestic shipyards, including icebreakers of different types, large fishing vessels, freezer trawlers, high-speed passenger vessels like the ‘Comet’ and ‘Meteor’ with submerged wings, as well as tankers and gas carriers. All these endeavors aim to ensure Russia’s independence in maritime energy resource deliveries.
