In a growing travel trend, more than 30% of Russians engaged in “bleisure” travel in 2023, seamlessly integrating business trips with short leisure breaks, according to a study by Bronevik.com (part of MTS Travel).
The analysis revealed that 36% of all hotel bookings for business purposes extended into the weekends. Reservations were typically made around 10 days in advance, significantly earlier than for strictly business travels.
The average duration for bleisure trips was noted at four nights, compared to just two nights for business-only visits. The average spending on accommodation for these combined trips was 17,400 rubles, substantially higher than the 7,900 rubles spent on business-only trips.
Popular destinations for bleisure travel diverge from traditional business hubs like Moscow and St. Petersburg, with frequent choices including Sochi, Vladivostok, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Other top destinations cited were Novy Urengoy and Novosibirsk, locations where business tourists take time to explore local attractions and unwind after their work duties.
