In 2024, the production of cars in Russia almost doubled compared to January-April 2023, reports TASS, citing data from Rosstat.

The report highlights that the production of passenger cars in Russia from January to April 2024 increased by 92.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching 224,000 units.

In April 2024, the production of passenger cars grew 2.3 times year-on-year and by 0.8% compared to March.

The production of trucks increased by 26.6% during the January-April period, reaching 60,300 units. The production of buses weighing more than 5 tons increased by 31%, while buses weighing less than 5 tons saw a 17% rise.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade noted that the Russian automotive market is set to recover soon. In 2024, sales are expected to reach 1.3 million units. By 2026, sales volumes will return to the average annual level of 2015-2021. From 2027, the market is projected to grow by 1% annually, reaching 1.8 million cars per year by the end of the decade.
