A method to minimize the use of pesticides has been found in Russia.
Scientists from Tyumen State University (ТюмГУ) have developed software that automatically recognizes and measures the amount of pesticides settled on plants. The AI-based development can identify dry spots on leaves, areas of the leaf surface not covered by the pesticide. This will help reduce the use of pesticides and decrease environmental pollution.
Pesticides are chemical or biological substances designed to combat harmful insects, rodents, weeds, plant diseases, and animals. They are also used as defoliants, desiccants, and growth regulators.
Currently, optimizing the methods of delivering plant protection agents is a key task related to food and environmental safety.
