The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) has called on private clinics to more actively provide free aid to Russians; however, to achieve this, the process for such medical establishments to integrate into the healthcare system needs simplification, stated the Chairman of the National Association of Health Managers, Muslim Muslimov.
According to him, at the beginning of this year, nearly 8,700 private clinics were participating in the MHIF system, with the Central Federal District leading the count at 2,100 clinics. However, not all services in private clinics are free under MHIF, though there is still the possibility to register with them for treatment under the insurance policy.
To increase the number of clinics treating citizens under MHIF, some issues need to be addressed. For example, difficulties arise from the restriction on submitting applications to participate in the MHIF system only once a year, as well as limitations on the volume of services provided, Muslimov noted in a conversation with “RG”.
He added that the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund aims to control service quality but does not always allocate the necessary volumes, complicating their provision to Russians. Moreover, payments for provided services can be delayed, not to mention that there are restrictions in the use of MHIF funds.
Resolving these issues could increase the accessibility of private clinics for the population, concluded Muslimov.
