Russians who strive for high results in their work or any other area of life, a condition known as “achiever syndrome,” should understand why they need to reach certain goals. This advice was given by Irina Smolyarchuk, director of the Anti-Crisis Psychological Center and psychoanalyst, in an interview with Radio 1.

According to her, once individuals determine their motives, they should set specific tasks and outline their goals. This approach helps to avoid physical and emotional exhaustion.

Smolyarchuk noted that one might build a career to manage a business while sitting on an island and swimming in the ocean—that is one goal. Others might seek personal growth or look for love—these are different goals.

People striving for achievements have always existed. Our grandfathers proved their worth through victories in war, successes in the economy, and construction efforts. In the 1960s, people aimed to get free education, take advantage of quotas, and build careers with numerous job opportunities. Today, citizens aspire to ensure a prosperous life for themselves, concluded the expert.
