Rosatom has developed equipment that allows for the efficient processing of solid radioactive waste. Previously, such equipment had to be imported, but now a domestic counterpart has been created for the first time. The first sample has already been delivered to the construction site of the Kursk NPP-2, where it is being installed alongside a new type of VVER-TOI reactor.

The device is a press filter, a monoblock structure that allows for changing the feed system of the original material under the pressing unit. During the tests conducted, the equipment’s full compliance with all existing requirements, both in terms of performance and safety, was confirmed. Production will take place in Tambov at the Tambovpolymermash plant.
